Good afternoon ladies.  How are the puppies @Fearless - Vol Mod

My Mother is not well and in hospital so I am lucky to be able to visit her daily and help with support. She will be 99 in April! We had a wonderful Christmas with her and then she got pneumonia and went downhill very quick. Tested negative for Covid.
  • @BeamBlossom thank you🌻🌻i was a bit taken aback when they told me my covid test is in the "rescue" unit. I have visions of biohazard thick plastic make-shift corridors and a decontamination  spray down station!  Zach was upset that this caused delay for my treatment, above all else. I am stressed that I want him here, where I can smother mother him even from 6 ft away. But we know this was an ideal option to stay elsewhere.
lots on new now about scans being delayed across the country.  I have never experienced a delay and am very grateful for that.

  • @CountryLiving thanks for asking and answer is....a handful.  We keep asking ourselves what kind of idiots we are to bring in not one but two rambunctious puppies of a breed known to be extremely active, in the middle of winter.  But we're too much in love already.  Ripley is the slightly larger of the two and finally getting past the nipping stage. He's already responding to sit and down although stay is not in his vocabulary.  Digger on the other hand if our demon child.  Clearly they both need some professional training and fortunately there are lots of good ones close by so that's on the agenda as a next step in getting them oriented to their new home.
  • @BeamBlossom
Apparently I can stay on the trial until it stops working or the toxicity becomes an issue.  If my liver enzymes continue to climb or my dry eyes (technical cornea name) get worse they can take me off it for a week or two for things to settle down. I now have a bit of protein in my urine as well so that is being watched.  Crossing my fingers it all continues to go smoothly because it is working!

    @Fearless - Vol Mod
Thanks for the info re dizziness.  I do believe I have a sinus issue happening too.  My trial nurse's first reaction was maybe we should get a brain MRI.  Eeeeek!  That seems to be the nuclear option (and I work in the nuclear sector LOL!).  I keep telling myself it is a much simpler solution.  I feel light headed for sure but it comes and goes.  I am keeping my team apprized of the situation and my family doctor has Rx'd a nasal spray which I can take to see if unblocking the sinuses (headache and post nasal drip like crazy) will help with it all. A bit of a trial and error of course.  But isn't it all.  I feel good, just tired and the headache pressure makes it hard to think. Other than that.....carry on!
  • @Fearless - Vol Mod How are things going with the puppies? Are they just 6 weeks old? House training two at once would be a challenge!
  • @ToughAsTeal
I can imagine how Zac must feel...and your disappointment not having him close by while he finishes his quarantine. But it could have been worse...he could have passed ii to you.  So we'll just count your blessings today.

Yes, I've been hearing about treatment and testing delays too. So far none of mine have been affected either.(oops, knocking on wood again !)  @Taita was it you who sat around with a treatment delay of several hours last time?
  • @fearless i need some pet therapy!  If you feel like sharing another puppy picture!
@CountryLiving grateful that hospital are allowing family to come in and offer support. I was not allowed, when my father (90) was in hospital but that was when covid was still fairly new.  I know you will take the time to keep yourself well for your mother.

  • @Taita my reaction entirely when my oncologist suggested we might MRI my brain if my headaches continue.  They have been relentless but now that you mention it so has my sinuses with the same...constant post nasal drip.  i've put that off to the weather but maybe my chemo has something to do with it.
  • @Fearless - Vol Mod
Love the puppies insight!  They are so adorable.
Yes, it was me.  It was a four hour wait, but as it turns out the clerk didn't enter my beeper in the system.  I hate to bug them and the place was packed with people who were struggling to be there so I was the patient patient.  Next time I will gently inquire.  The nurses are run off their feet and are doing an amazing job.  Can't wait for this current wave to be on the downhill run.  Other than that, everything has run very smoothly.  My 25 year old granddaughter is scheduled to have a preventative double mastectomy and reconstruction on February 1st.  We are praying it goes ahead.  Mentally it is a big thing and delay would be so hard on her. Her biological grandmother and her great aunts all had ovarian cancer and she is Braca.  They are scheduling her hysterectomy in a year or so.  So sad but I get it.  Anything to save her from what we are going through.
  • The Avastin is really rough on the sinuses, I've skipped my last infusion and my nose still is not back to normal. I hate to complain because it could be worse, but it is relentless, I often wake up at night unable to breath through my nose.
  • @BeamBlossom
That give me hope! Thanks for that encouragement.  There a so many things I learn from my teal sisters!

@ToughAsTeal my sons roommate tested positive after Christmas and then my son tested positive too. He was so worried that he may have spread it before he knew he was positive. Good thing tho we ask he wears a mask when visiting so we were fortunate. He really had no symptoms but just tested bec of his roommate and bec he wanted to visit again. So we are not seeing him now for a few days.
  • Have to sign off now.  Take care and stay safe everyone! "See you next week"!
  • @CountryLiving so sorry to hear about your mom. Indeed wonderful you're allowed to help with her care...for you and her. My best friend just let me know her mother, also in her 90's and who was fine a week ago) was admitted with totally unexpected pneumonia and two days ago Brenda was told to come as she was on the tipping edge. By the time she made the five hour drive Mom had turned a positive corner. Still there but they're talking about releasing her in a couple of days.  I guess at that age you can expect anything. Wishing your mom has a turnaround and back home soon.  Regardless, just shows how precious that time over Christmas really was.

Have a good week ladies. Bye for now.
  • I had an MRI on my brain and will have another next week, it is actually the skull and brain together, no big deal at all. I think I prefer them to the CTs. I'm glad I did, as that found a met to my skull while it was still under 1 cm.
  • I see it is past time, so long everyone, stay safe!
  • @BeamBlossom
I am blessed with a husband who has the patience of Job when it comes to the pups...well really just about everything.  The added stupidity was arranging to pick them up the day after chemo so I've been a mess when it comes to much other than cuddling them.  But they are very intelligent dogs. Within a  day got  the message about newspapers to pee and poo on. It was just then a matter of not leaving newspapers around other than by the backdoor.  But the next day they figured out we preferred them to do their business outside so standing by the back door was mastered fast. Now to get them to bark or something to signal they're there and we're home free on that front.  Biggest issue is the nipping and scratching. One is starting to understand no means no but I'm covered in bite marks, as is much of my furniture, from the demon dog.  All in good time.

  • @BeamBlossom i did not know that about avastin and sinus! I have had blood from nose but no "nosebleeds" but maybe explains the other sinus stuff?

  • On that happy note, time to say goodbye for another week.  This one another full of good news to celebrate as we each seem to respond with varying levels of success with out treatments.

Stay well everyone....."see" you next week.

  • Have a good week every! Just say NO to Omicron.
  • Hi...great chat on Thursday, @Fearless - Vol Mod!

So glad to hear about the positive updates, @ToughAsTeal, @BeamBlossom and @Taita!
Wishing all a great (bundled up) weekend!

    REMINDERS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
    • Last TEAL TEA (zoom platform) for the month is tonight. I believe there is still room to participate if you want to register for the link.
    • Details and link to register are up for the January 26 Speaker Series. I've added them to that discussion topic on our home page.
Must admit I'm a bit behind responding to new questions and information this past week.  I've found my Day 1 treatment of Caelyx and Avastin  has a delayed response and side effects hit later and last longer. So last week was not a great one for me.  And by the time I came out of it I was on my way back for my Day 15 treatment (Avastin only) which was yesterday. Dang but I miss that week or so between treatments when I felt really really good.  Guess I'll be discussing a slightly lower dose in hopes of mitigating the symptoms with my oncologist when I see her next.  I'm always dubious that I'm not trading a bit more comfort for less efficacy so she'll have to convince me.

How is everyone else this week?  Time to get started for today so please say hello and let us know what's on your mind today.......

Oh, and for @ToughAsTeal - your puppy fix for the day...they turned 2 months this week.

  • Your puppies are so cute!
  • @Fearless - Vol Mod they are indeed pretty cute!!! Most importantly do they love to snuggle?? (my favourite part)

  • Today, nothing is new. It is snowing here again and we love it! My family is staying safe, no Covid as of yet (touch wood). Our dog is keeping me active! J don't think I would walk as much without him!
  • I got my puppy fix Thankyou!  PCR COVID test was neg so I should be all clear for my follow up with lab work and dr appointment next Wed EXCEPT it appears the nurse didn’t book me! So I am waiting for call back. I am however booked in for Caelyx/avastin on Thursday. I will be curious if they have to start slow again.
  • @Sylviequebecbc
Welcome back. It's been awhile since we last heard from you.  It sounds like things are going well for you.

@Taita hello.  And yes, they do like to cuddle....when they're not racing around like demons LOL.  Puppies...what can I say other than as much work and effort they are, there is nothing like a puppy cuddles and kisses.  I presume all still going well for you too?
  • My next PET/CT is in February, last one showed increase lesions and activity in my peritineum...they started talking about surgery again....Will see. That is what is mostly on my mind
