Well ladies, wrap up time again today.
@KarenBemi congratulations again. May you stay just that way, forever.
@Rad We'll be virtually ringing that bell with you on Monday. Good luck with the oncologist tomorrow. Hope you come out with a surveillance plan that is comfortable and meets your needs.
@Readersmaven hoping for positive scan for you tomorrow. Keep us posted and keep up that exercise program.
@CountryLiving thanks for joining us today. Hope all is well.
We were a smaller group than usual today, but always mighty

Have a great weekend ladies!1

THURSDAY THE 28TH and time to check in again.....how is everyone today?
Can you believe we're headed into February in a few days? On a happy note, winter is moving along faster than usual it seems and before we know it we'll be seeing the first signs of spring. Yes. I'm an eternal optimist! But, just need to get through the February blahs first. What's everyone doing to stay occupied during the winter weather and so many lockdown areas now? And how is everyone's health? Last week we had a couple of good news stories from KarenBemi and Rad....love to do those happy dances!
Well ladies, it's 1pm here and time to get started .....who's going to kick us off today?0 -
@Fearless - Vol Mod definitely hard to believe we address at end of January already...spring can't come soon enough. That said, it's been nice to see the sun last couple of days.0
-
Hi Fearless!
It doesn't hardly feel like a lockdown, nearly everything around me is open. I am concerned though about the new more contagious covid strain so I don't go out much. I stay home and am enjoying this sunshine which has been in short supply this past month. It makes for a wonderful day to walk my dog, I do that a lot.0 -
@BeamBlossom
@Readersmaven
Welcome. Great to have you both here today. And yes, we've had much more sun where I am the past few days and it's so invigorating. Even if you can't get out much. Sure hope it continues. There was too much dreary gray skies before that.
Share your concern about the new strains of Covid Beamblossom. I hear we just found out first out in my region...someone who entertained an out of town visitor. Sheesh!0 -
Got results of my scan today, good news/bad news. Organs are "unremarkable" which is exactly what you want...bad news is there is a problematic lymph node. So I'm now waiting for a call from radiation oncologist to discuss possible treatment.
My oncologist feels that it's too early to start back with chemo as nothing (other than node) is showing up.
Guess these are the twists and turns of this disease.0 -
Hi ladies ,had my last chemo on Monday, happy that it's over for now.Having a few rough days. Have to do blood work and see oncologist/ gynecologist in 4 months.He said if I experience any symptoms that last for a few days and doesn't seem normal before my 4 months check up to contact his nurse and he will order a scan.Ca 125 is 13.40.1
-
@Readersmaven
Great for the good news, but as you have said before, don't get ahead of yourself. The lymph node might be nothing or an easy fix. Two of my gal pals out here were fine for a long time and then had a lymph node issue. For one they waited and scanned again and whatever the problem it was gone. The other had hers radiated and that took care of it. Both are still in the NED category again. So, hang in and hopefully you won't have to wait long for an action plan.0 -
@Readersmaven: Congrats on your unremarkable organs! I have 6 remarkable lymph nodes, it would be great if I could have them irratiated, but I also have a 1 cm lesion on my pelvic wall, so I'd have to go back to chemo for that, so they are not going to radiate the lymph nodes.0
-
@Rad congrats on finishing chemo! Do a happy dance... when you feel better. It's great to have that behind you.0
-
@Readersmaven sorry to heat about your lymph node.0
-
@Fearless - Vol Mod your right... once day at a time. As I've mentioned before, patience isn't my best virtue, but I try.0
-
@Rad: so nice to have that overwith and start to heal and enjoy more normalcy. Happy for you!0
-
Congratulations @Rad. We were all thinking of you last Monday. 4 month check up is pretty normal and good here your oncologist has suggested you check in if you have any persistent issues. I became much more attuned to body signals after my diagnosis. That's what led to spotting my recurrence early. Hopefully though that won't be necessary fo you. Let's just root for a future full of 13 CA scores and no symptoms !0
-
@Rad... thx! Guess concern is that it's been growing over the last 3 scans. So, radiation likely but as @Fearless - Vol Mod says can't get ahead of myself.0
-
Thanks ladies for your support, I am going to try to have a little normalcy in my life for next 4 months until my next appointment.2
-
@Readersmaven my lymph nodes were noted on a scan Nov 4, I had another scan on Jan 8 it showed 3 nodes had shrunk, one was stable, only 2 had increased and only by about 1/3 of a cm. I know we get nervous thinking our cancer is exploding in growth if we know it is there, but that's not the case, just the fear monster roaring again.0
-
@BeamBlossom absolutely right. It's the waiting and unknown where in the absence of knowledge you naturally tend to fill in the blanks in your imagination..and usually go directly to the darkest place possible. They should create a "forget for now" pill we could take.1
-
@kattie666
I see you've signed in. We haven't heard from you in a while . How are you?0 -
@BeamBlossom thx for the perspective, it's a challenge for sure especially when I actually feel great! Will definitely try to stay positive. That's always my goal.0
-
@Fearless - Vol Mod - haha! Right you are! And I have high grade serous, the fast growing ovc.0
-
@Readersmaven: I feel good too, many of these lymph nodes are located at the top of my legs, in the groin area, just this past week, I notice a tingling that runs down my legs sometimes. I think our lymph nodes have to get quite large before we feel anything.0
-
@BeamBlossom
The tingling could also be a neuropathy and not related to the lymph nodes. I have it bad in my lower legs and feet but if I stand in one place for more than 5 minutes the skin on my thighs goes completely numb. Weird. They tell me could be part of my neuropathy but could also come from some disc degeneration I've had in my spine for years now. I have to admit that's what drives me nuts about this disease and symptoms....it could be this, but it could be that, but maybe it's something else entirely. At least once you're diagnosed though they default to checking for whatever it is being related to your OVC first and not last.1 -
@Fearless - Vol Mod - that's interesting, do you think neuropathy could suddenly appear 5 months after finishing chemo?0
-
@BeamBlossom you're likely right. My node is one in abdomen, dr said behind belly button towards the back. Anyway, can't do much until I talk to radiation oncologist, however apparently she's looked at scans, so am I crazy to think it's something when she wants to talk!
See how easy it is to jump right into0 -
Question for anyone who's being in and out of their cancer centre for tests, consults, chemo etc. Have any of you been required to be Covid tested/swabbed? I had to do a Covid test back early December before I started chemo but otherwise no. Just the usual stop at the entrance to answer the questions and nothing elsewhere. The only protocol now for chemo is a temperature before you enter.0
-
@BeamBlossom do you notice the tingling after any particular activity or is it random?
I don't know a lot about it, except my experience and it came after 2nd treatment and progressed from there.0 -
@Readersmaven: Nope not at all crazy, the radiologist might only want to discuss with you the pros and cons of treating that with radiation.0
