Gals, I do empathize with your fixation on the CA...but mine is 1540 as of the last blood work a week ago; up from 1221 the month before; and 440 the month before that and I figure if my oncologist isn't panicking, then I'm not either. Next scan is in three weeks and we'll see what that shows....and from there discuss how to proceed moving forward. I trust, from watching her approach with others, that if she thought I was in danger I'd have been in a chemo chair the day after the blood work was reported.0
-
Welcome Rad, glad to hear you have one down, the first chemo as I recall was quite scary, i was glad when it was over.0
-
My CA125 was 35 before Chemo and now is sitting at <6 just before final chemo last Friday. Next bloodwork at my request is Oct.30. CT scan not until Nov. 27 and after that would have been next bloodwork. I though that was too long given such a low red count. (82) last check.0

@Fearless - thanks for that perspective! I would just love to hear, it can bounce around under 50 and not mean anything, although my number is low, it has rapidly quadrupled, I don't have a scan booked.0

@kattie666 I'm so sorry. I wasn't aware (or didn't remember, so forgive me) of your kidney issue. Hopefully he hasn't raised the topic of transplant because he doesn't feel a need to go there yet. I had a good friend with liver cancer who was headed for a transplant...and must say the process and criteria to get on the list boggled my mind. For her, having cancer didn't cancel out her eligibility to be considered, just that there was demonstrated stabilization of her tumor. In any event, just take it one day at a time, relish the good, and make sure you have all the right questions ready for your doctor when you see him next.1
-
Thank you @Fearless - Vol Mod Yes I have a "doctor" note book that goes to all my appointments. The kidney disease is Polycystic Kidneys. It is hereditary from our dad. 4/5 of his kids suffer from it. Thank you for your comments, and yes I will question it at my next appointment, I just wasn't ready to ask yet!0

Great - thanks for the follow up @Fearless - Vol Mod0
-
@Katie666 - I'm 3 1/2 months post chemo and still waiting for my RBC to reach normal, it can take quite a few months from what I understand.1
-
Wishing everyone a great week ahead. I have to sign off for now.0
-
@kattie666 Now I recall you mentioning your hereditary kidney disease. I didn't realize the extent of it in your family. I'm so sorry you all have that to contend with. My thoughts will be with all of you.1

Me to. Have a good week everyone!0

Time for me to sign off for today. This has been our largest and most active group yet...at one point 8 of us.
Thanks all for sharing your stories, updates; asking your questions; and supporting each other. Look forward to chatting again next Thursday.
And in the meantime if you have any pressing questions or feel you have information to share with the community you can always open a new discussion topic.
Have a great weekend everyone.....

@Fearless - Vol ...I missed another session! It seems I'm trying to catch up to life..😁..I thought that maybe COVID would slow us down..take a deep breath...maybe it did for one breath..thanks for the updats and information.. appreciate it...yesterday was our first real taste of winter with a skiff of snow here...definitely winter..have a great weekend0
-
We missed you too @Bluebird Maybe this week, eh? But I know how easy it is to have the best of intentions yet the time just slips by. I can't count the number of times I've scrambled at the last minute to participate in something or totally missed it. I do love we can blame a lot of that on good old "brain fog" though Glad though you use the conversation flow to update. We had the largest group ever the other day....8 of us at one point.
You have a great weekend too and hope to "see" you this coming Thursday.0 -
@Bluebird, @Rad, @Tinazzie, @BeamBlossom, @kattie666, @cbot, @Readersmaven
You were asking about the agenda for the Symposium at our last live chat. Unfortunately wasn't released on Friday as had been planned...I assume it will go out to everyone who's registered soon. But in the meantime, here is the pdf i attachment to this comment, hot off the press.... For more information as it becomes available, please visitovariancanada.org/symposium or contact Stephanie Gosselin, Regional Director, OvarianCancer Canada at sgosselin@ovariancanada.org3 -
@Fearless - Vol Mod thanks for the follow up. I'm sure the agenda will come soon, I've organized big events in the past and it's not easy, covid and virtual likely complicates things further!0
-
@Readersmaven
Not sure if you opened the attachment with my update on the agenda. It is the actual agenda. Just giving you all a sneak peek before OCC releases it to the entire registration list.0 -
@Fearless - Vol Mod oops....missed that! Thanks for connecting, I'm looking forward to this, appreciate you keeping us informed.0

Thank you so much for letting me know @CountryLiving Will join on Thu. What time in AB would it be?0
-
@albertan I'm the host for Thursdays and also a three year survivor currently being treated for recurrence. But I plan to be around a long long time. So that live chat is continuing. We start at 1pm EST which is 11am for you in Alberta. And we usually go an hour, sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more depending on how lively our group is. Really looking forward to having you join us this Thursday. Just sign in and hit the discussion topic title as you did today and you're in. Don't worry about being prompt. The gals pop in and out as is convenient. You may find the flow of commentary a bit daunting at first. The site functionality is slow and you need to refresh often in order to see new comments. So the flow can get a wee bit disjointed at times, But we manage and have fun doing it too. And one hint....if you want to ensure a member knows your comment is directed to something they said, start your comment with the @ sign and then starting typing the name with no space in between. You'll immediately get a pop up of their screen name to click on...i..e for me you'd type @Fearless - Vol Mod
Feel free to reach out to me if you need any help with the site or connecting to us. In the meantime, welcome and see you Thursday I hope.1 -
@Fearless - Vol Mod Thank you for the reply and specific info/tips.I am looking forward to joining this Thursday.I was diagnosed at the end of July and am currently doing chemo (had the second one last week).I am sorry about your recurrence and hope your treatment goes well.Thank you both @CountryLiving and @Fearless - Vol Mod for replying to my comment today.It's reassuring there is someone in the same situation who understands...Today especially I have been dealing with symptoms and an energetic 10-year-old with cold symptoms staying home from school0
