OUR COLLABORATIVE BOOK
I, personally, would love to see this come to fruition. I have checked with OCC and there has NEVER been a collaborative book done before on Ovarian Cancer.
So it was first initiated by @Hooodith that we each do a chapter for a book on our own journey. It was met with a wonderful response.
So, please let it be known who would like to do this, seriously and we will workshop through this together to have it come to fruition.
It does not matter the type of cancer you have or where you are at in your journey. I feel that in order for this book to be complete, it will be a compilation of many journeys and experiences. It won't be full of the stats and generalities that we find on the internet but instead be full of life experiences to give a better whole picture to many out there.
So I encourage @jennhood624 to see if Hannah would like to weigh in with her journey with Juvenile Granulosa and all the other ladies out there with both the rarer types or complications of having a more common one and what that looks like.
So, come on ladies.....tell me again....who is in this?!!!
Let's get brainstorming and make this a reality!
Re: Intraperitoneal ports - failed twice before chemo
@Alwayslearning Thank you for sharing your detailed journal and experience. I, too found ginger chews very helpful when I was undergoing chemo. Looks like you are resting when you should and figuring out your eating. Avoiding constipation is a key for many of us.
Looks like the ice packs are helping you and that is fantastic. Whether myth or truth, only way to find out is to try it yourself and see how it applies to you.
Take care of you and reach out to chat anytime or to update us. 💕

I don't believe we have dogwoods here but I bet they are beautiful @JoanEG You definitely have much more out than most of us for the time of year it is. It's why it is so nice to share and see what others are seeing on a daily basis. Grass cutting is definitely in our lawns near future too.
The array of flowers and birds sounds wonderful to see and hear. Thanks for sharing. 💕
Our friends were just here that are expecting in a month's time and their first. So nice to see their excitement and joy in bringing a new life into the world. Glad we get to be part of it.
Re: clinical trials
@GloHo Self advocating becomes so tiresome. Yes, I, too would be concerned if an Oncologist had no idea either what a CA 125 was for OR the importance/relevance of having it tested. I know you will persist through with this but am deeply saddened that you have to.
Thank you for your detailed notes and know they may help someone down the road.
Hang in there!
Re: Intraperitoneal ports - failed twice before chemo
YAY! Any forward motion in treatment is great. I had the pac/carb combo for 9 txs. It’s not bad. You won’t be doing cartwheels for the week after but that’s ok. I ended up with foot & hand neuropathy but it’s coming back slowly. Keep on going!! You’ll get there!! 🩵

Re: Chemo Scalp Acne
Thank you @StikineSister for sharing what helped you with what looked like a very painful rash on your scalp. I am crossing my fingers that it will help @Doots76 when she attends her appts this week. It sounds like they are at the end of the rope for searching/trying treatments to get her some relief. If @Doots76 can let us know how you make out at your appt and if/when it starts working, it may help someone else in the group too. My thoughts will be with you as you attend your appts and after. 🤗
@StikineSister You look amazing in both pics and happy. So nice to see. Where are you at in your journey now?

Hello @Strongwoman! I must say - again - how you fill me with so much admiration, for all that you do and make time for. I love the blanket! It’s beautiful how the colours come together. Green is actually my favourite colour, so no surprise! I’m sure it will be something your son will treasure for years to come.

@JoanEG That is great news! Glad to hear you are able to do more and have been. It is so hard when recovering to not overdo it and then pay for it later. I have learned that the hard way. It's why I divide up my gardening now because otherwise I don't think that I either would be able to get up or move again. One might think it sad or one can look at it as a new reality. I choose the latter. 😀
It is so freeing when one gets their freedom back when they can drive again. I don't even think I can describe the feeling beyond "being freeing". It is like one's wings have been clipped and one gets them back. I often wonder if we subconsciously make a list of things we will do once we have our freedom back that comes with driving. You know how it goes, we ask someone to take us to "X" medical appt and even if we have other things we want to do, we limit it to the essentials so as to not take up someone else's time. I felt like that anyways. Why? I have no idea because the people that offer truly want to help.
It sounds like you had some great discussions with your doctor/friend and went into some subjects we may not be either ready to face or want to discuss. I am glad you were able to do that. Information about all of it, allows one to make decisions that are right for each of us as individuals. Sometimes those decisions change as time wears on as well. Good for you for being able to have those discussions.
What a precious gift to be able to see your great grandson. I am happy to hear your grand daughter-in-law dropped by so you could see him. Beautiful and memorable! 💖
Sounds like you are having some great days with family and friends. Returning to work must feel good too.
So glad you shared with us! Hope your follow up visit goes well and you are able to do a bit more. Hoping the chemo doesn't cause you to be unwell for long periods. 🤗

@Strongwoman you are so talented, that blanket is gorgeous and such a unique gift. It sounds like you have also been very busy. Spending time with family is such a blessing.
@Tinazzie I’m sorry to hear the treatment you have been getting is making you feel unwell. That is frustrating when you are not seeing benefits. It sounds like your daughter is also going through a lot. It must be very hard to not be there with her. My daughter lives in Saskatchewan and I am in BC so we have faced th same issue. Talking on the phone and FaceTime are ok but they don’t make up for actually not being together. Sending positive energy to you and your daughter.

What great news - back to work. And it sounds like you have a lot of energy…but know when to rest 🤣🤣. You sure had a busy week - but how enjoyable to spend time with friends!
