  • 1.  Testing for Clear Cell

    Posted 12 hours ago

Hello,  I was wondering for those who have clear cell carcinoma what tests do you have done? I currently go every 3 months and get a CA 125 blood work done.  I did have a CT scan in June.  My next one is in April.  I did participate in the presentation for survivorship the other week (listen if you have not).  It got me thinking and I had a few questions for my oncologist because my biggest fear is reoccurrence.  My safety net was the blood work, CA 125 but my oncologist said that it is not a good marker for the type of cancer I had.  She said that it is monitored by physical exam and CT scans. Also I have to pay attention to my body and the aches, bowel and urine movement, blood in the stool and discomfort.  My safety net has burst.  I looked on line and it says that the CA 19-9 might be an option.  "While the standard marker CA-125 is frequently lower or less reliable in clear cell ovarian cancer compared to high-grade serous ovarian cancer, CA 19-9 is sometimes evaluated as an alternative or supplementary tumor marker in patients presenting with an ovarian mass." Like I said at the beginning I was curious what tests and frequency does one do with clear cell? Thank you for your attention.
