    Posted 8 days ago

    Hello all,

OCC is seeking feedback regarding the impact of OVdialogue. I'm going to be posting a few questions over the next few weeks and would appreciate if you could take a moment to respond. The first question is below. Thank you in advance for your participation.

Question 1: How have you used information or knowledge from OVdialogue to support your care?

The OVdialogue has provided me with information that dramatically increased my general understanding of ovarian cancer as well as its varied effects and impacts on our lives. The anecdotal stories from women about their OV cancer symptoms, diagnosis, treatments and medication side effects have provided me with education and support on a deeper, relatable level. There is so much wisdom and practical advice from women here that augments intermittent doctor's appointments. For example, I was given helpful tips to cope with the aftermath of debulking surgery re: self-care and what I could expect during the recovery phase.

Reading the discussions on various topics posted in OVdialogue helped me converse more effectively with my doctors, asking better questions and understanding their explanations.

OVDialogue has been a tremendous source of information as I progress through my journey. During my chemotherapy treatment, being able to "talk" to women who had and were experiencing similar side effects, and how to deal with them, was game changing. While my medical team certainly tried to prepare me for the process, being able to talk with others about what was happening "in real time", was so helpful. You learn from others, you normalize your experience and you utilize tips from the advice and counsel being provided.

I was also able to search on the OVDialogue site to find information on topics such as peripheral neuropathy and parb inhibitors. These were terms I honestly didn't understand at the start of my diagnosis. Reading the stories from others was so helpful in knowing questions to ask my medical team and also what I might/might not expect in my journey.
