    Posted 25 days ago

    Afternoon ladies!

well did round 3 yesterday, so far the best.  No reactions, minor tiredness today, occasional headache but can't complain only last a few seconds. My labs were holding pre chemo so that was good, hgb stable at 97,plts 150,ca125-330(previous 300).  Now I wait for June 9 MRI and June 12 CT scan, if looking good I'm told tentatively surgery for June 16th

Hi @Meinvan I'm glad it went well. I hope you've had the opportunity for lots of rest over the last few days. Fingers crossed for positive news from June MRI and CT.

Thanks.  Trying to rest, being lazy on the couch for a few days, but need to move a little.  Feeling the usual low energy and abdo pelvic aches.  Praying scans goes smoothly and we have good results.  Trying to get lots of things that need to be done in the next 2 weeks just in case I get the go ahead for surgery.

    Evening ladies,

'so I had my mri and ct scan this week.  No ct report yet but mri looks promising from what I read.  Tumor has decreased from 15x12 to 8.7x8.7. No adenopathy seem. Small amount of ascites. A bartolin cyst and an exophytic cyst seen.  Peritoneal deposits not visualized.

i meet with my oncologist on Monday morning to go over results and then I have a surgical consult Monday afternoon too. I guess we will find out the plan then as I'm due my next round of chemo on Thursday this week.  So maybe continue chemo or hold off and get ready for surgery?  I'll keep you posted Monday afternoon I have my appt.  Fingers crossed everything is going ahead.

Hi @Meinvan. I wanted to check in and see how you are doing. Hoping you received good news on the MRI report to match the good CT report. How did your oncologist and surgical consults go? Do you have a path forward?

Thanks for checking in.  MRI was good, don't know the ct scan but from what oncologist could see nothing of concern there.  I had the surgical consult the same day to plan for surgery.  Plan is to do my chemo#4 tomorrow as it was to close to arrange for surgery this week, and my surgeon that's done my other procedures is away this week.  I got a call this morning that I am booked for July 17th for my surgery.  My labs are good this time pre chemo, hgb 111,wbc5.0 plts 148, and my ca125 is down to 48!  I'm scared about having surgery, mainly the post op and recovery part, but I know this is the path I need to go on. So off to chemo tomorrow.

Hi @Meinvan. How did Tx#4 chemo go? Hopefully no new side effects and you are managing comfortably. I'm glad to hear the MRI was good. Those are gold standard measures so 'nothing of concern' is very positive. Also good to see your CA125 coming down. Mine was 67 post surgery so while I'm no medical expert, it feels like that's trending positively too.

It's great they were able to get your surgery booked so quickly although it may seem so far away right now. This gives you time to recover from your most recent chemo. Surgery of any kind is scary so you have a right to be in the mind frame. Feel free to ask this group LOTS of questions about pre and post op (and recovery). I know folks have posted a lot of information on this before however if you can't find anything from doing a search, then post away. Folks are always willing to share and help. It's what I love about the Teal Sisters.

Try to get some rest and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks for asking.  Just got home from chemo, went smoothly today and feeling good.  Found out today one of my collegues from the past was do with endometrial ca, she had surgery in May and going to be starting chemo next.  I'm going to meet up with her at the end of the month to chat.

Going to try and increase my protein intake and activity for the next few weeks to get ready for surgery.  Heard from transfusion nurse this morning want me to recheck my iron and ferritin levels to see if I will get an iron infusion prior to surgery.  Just waiting to hear back about that.  I will definitely check out the surgical posts too, I have been reading some of them already.

Newest complaint is starting to have hot flashes which I never had because I never went thru menopause, just had night sweats but no hot flashes.  I am guessing surgery will make these ampflied.  Do they ever give us HRT?  Just curious probably a personal opinion.

thanks again for being here my Teal Sisters😘🙏🏻

Hi @Meinvan glad it went smoothly. Good thinking on increasing protein intake. That was actually something a Gyn Oncologist said to me when I was first diagnosed. Protein is very important for the body for healing purposes too.

I fully went through menopause before this (I turn 60 this year and went through menopause in my late 40's - lasted almost 10 years!!). I did not do any HRT at that time. My understanding is that HRT is not recommended for women with a history of ovarian cancer. The medical consensus is to exercise caution as HRT can stimulate cancer cell growth. I am however NOT a medical doctor and strongly suggest you ask your oncologist. It's been over a year since my surgery (total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy) and I have the occasional hot flash. Plus I've had weight gain which is highly unusual for me until I discovered that a lack of estrogen can contribute to weight gain, especially in the abdominal area (which is exactly where mine is presenting). Isn't being female fun!!!

I try to counter as best as I can with eating well and exercise. Also just getting my mind to accept that there's only so much I can do and to accept my body for what it is!

Please keep us posted as your pre-op process continues and ask any question you can't seem to find answers for. This group is such a wealth of knowledge!!

Some things on my CT scan that I need to discuss with my surgeon and oncologist when I see her next after surgery.  Small right nodule seen on my thyroid, more lung nodules seen now that pleural effusions have resolved( close monitor for those). Peri aortic lymph node measuring 9mm, and some other lymph nodes about4mm,not mentioned in original scans.  I know when I go under surgery she will look around everywhere and remove lymph nodes if look suspicious, just need to ask the questions.

@Meinvan...I'm always amazed at what they can see on a CT scan. While some of it's scary, it's still good that they can identify these items to be addressed. I know they do their best to look around for everything and this information will just help them focus and get rid of the bad stuff. Good for you for getting your questions all ready. I always have a long list that I basically start from the day after I see my oncologist to the day of the next appointment. I find writing it all day when I think about it, including monitoring of symptoms etc. helps me to be super focused as those meetings don't always tend to be as long as we would all like. Please keep us posted with progress. Sending you warm thoughts.
