    Posted 17 days ago

My 1st time posting here. Original stage 3 cancer  diagnosis 09/2021. I had Surgery and 9 rounds of chemo , followed by niraparib until 02/25. Then Cancer was back so Surgery again followed by 6 rounds of chemo - finished 10/25.  Yesterday Dr advised that cancer is back. So that chemo is not working .  I feel completely defeated , depressed and devastated.  I feel I am a strong person but this news yhas really knocked me down. Looking for support or some  glimmer of hope or advice  to get me thru this .

@garden, I just wanted to say welcome here.  Sorry you are going thru another recurrence.  Did you have to stop Niraparib for recurrence or did you come off after the max time allowed on it?  Do you have any genetic mutations that you know of?  What chemo have you been on?  What has your oncologist told you as next chemo regimen?  What plan do they have going forward? Lots of people suggest getting 2nd or 3rd opinions if you want to get more info on possible treatment options.  I'm sorry it is a lot and you are a strong woman!  You have been doing this since 2021, you are a fighter and a warrior!  💪👊🩵🙏🏻

Hi @garden and welcome to OVdialogue. You are joining a forum with some amazing, courageous and strong women. We thank you for sharing your story. I am sorry to hear of your latest recurrence. No doubt you are still processing the news. We all know how trying this disease can be both physically and mentally. Don't give up on being a strong person. You are of course allowed to give yourself grace and time to process however you've been fighting since 2021!! You have definitely earned your Teal Warrior badge. 🩵

If you have a support group around you, time to lean in to them for some morale support. As well, I saw that @Meinvan responded and asked questions similar to what I would have asked (so I won't repeat). We talk a lot in this forum about self advocacy. Getting answers. Getting a plan. Getting some type of control is so important. There are multiple drugs available to treat OC. There are clinical trials. When you've had a chance to regroup, your oncologist should be ready to discuss your plan of attack.

As well, if you have not tapped into them, there are some other forums available through Ovarian Cancer Canada (OCC). There are monthly "Teal Tea's". They have "Peer to Peer Support". I've put the link below.

Keep asking questions to this forum. I've found that even the smallest thing to one person can create a huge discussion and yield information. We are here to share and support. Sending you a big hug 🫶
