As a result of having to go through another biopsy for the trial I am screening for, I have been enrolled in three different genetics testing studies!!

I was so so confused because each person I saw on my visits mentioned another study so I didn't know which one I was actually being enrolled in 🤪.

As it turns out I am enrolled in three different studies

    1. BIODIVA (again)
    2. Octane
    3. Marathon of Hope

I am still a bit confused but the more info I can get from these studies, the better!!

I believe BIODIVA is the umbrella study for the other two.

In addition, the BIODIVA study asks for any future tissue and fluids (ie, ascites, pleural) that I am being treated for.

I ran into a road block at my last biopsy because I could not donate a tissue sample simply because of geography. I was signed to BIODIVA through London and I could not give my sample to the study because I was having it done through PMH. Me, being me, explained how absurd that was. It is one study…one database…and it is being run through PMH!!

So, when I knew I was having another biopsy, I broached the subject again. I also added that a lot of out-of-town patients who have signed up for BIODIVA at their local facility will end up at PMH if they are interested in clinical trials. That is a lot of tissue/fluids lost for the study! Turns out the lead for BIODIVA was on call during my visit this time and he heard my argument…again.

They have signed me up for BIODIVA through PMH - using my original BIODIVA identifier.

This really doesn't help me in any way…it simply did not make sense to me. I hope now that this happens for more patients…the more samples they can get at different stages of a patient's journey has got to make a difference in their research!!

@GloHo @Alwayslearning   You are correct in saying gloho is a leader in this area. She is wealth of information when it comes to trials and everything that goes with it. She is amazing at documenting her experiences for all of us that follow her as well. Keep it up! It certainly helps the rest of the Teal Sisters out there when they are looking for this information.

I wish you all the best in Trial #4 and can't wait to read what you document about your experience and how it all goes. Take care.
