Hello Teal Warriors,

I wanted to remind folks that the OCC Walk of Hope is taking place across Canada on September 26 & 27th (date is dependent upon your walk location).This is the largest event in Canada dedicated to raising funds for ovarian cancer. Together, participants from coast to coast will come together with one shared purpose: to move ovarian cancer research, advocacy, and support forward.

I know a few OVd ladies are signed up. Having participated personally in the last few years I can say this is a very emotional but uplifting event. I'd love to know who is walking so I can show my support. Whether you signed up as an individual, are on a team, or perhaps are the team captain, your participation and support of Teal Sisters across Canada is appreciated. 💙

I cannot participate at my normal walk site this year (I typically walk in the Halton site in Burlington, ON), however intend to dedicate my day of walking in Greece that day! I would also love to donate to someone's team so let me know your team name and walk site.

As well, don't forget about the great resources to support the Walk including fundraising ideas. If you have any additional great fundraising ideas, I'd would also love to hear about those.

I am participating in the walk on September 27th in Victoria. I don't have a team (because I don't know anyone there), so I am going solo. I expect to meet some teal sisters during the walk so that will be fun. I hope to do some kind of extra fundraising once I figure out a workable concept. My Zumba crew has been very supportive of me throughout my treatments, so I might think of a fun activity with them that raises some $$. 

I will be thinking of you in Greece at that time, Alwayslearning. I am sure this will be a wonderful trip! 

@LeslieA I have no doubt you'll meet some wonderful Teal Sisters.

I love your thought around doing something with your Zumba crew for fundraising. Let us know if this progresses.

I am definitely disappointed that I won't be at the walk for a third year but I've informed my team that we will be back bigger and stronger next year so they should get prepared!

I started participating in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope in 2023 after my daughter, Hannah, who was just 16 years old at the time, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

Back then, the Walk of Hope was only held in Moncton and Saint John, New Brunswick. Since we live in Fredericton, we made the trip to Saint John for both the 2023 and 2024 walks.

On the drive home after the 2024 walk, I couldn't stop thinking about why Fredericton didn't have its own event. As soon as I got home, I reached out to Ovarian Cancer Canada and asked why there wasn't a walk here. I told them I'd be more than happy to help someone organize one.

Well... after about an hour on the phone, I somehow became that someone. 😂

Last year, Hannah and I proudly brought the Walk of Hope to Fredericton for the very first time. Now we're in full planning mode and can't wait to host our 2nd Annual Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope this September.

@jennhood624 thank you to you and Hannah for leading the cause and getting the OCC walk going in Fredericton. Having planned lots of events in my past life, I know this was no small feat so well done. I love that you are in your 2nd year. I know it will be hard work, inspiring, emotional and at the end of the day, worth every minute. So thank you both again 👏 Love Hannah's team name.

Oh walking in Greece sounds amazing!!!!!

I have a team here in Regina, SK (Jackie's Angels) and am looking forward to it. I've done it a few times since my diagnosis, but usually travel was in the way in early September so I'm glad it's later in the month!

@MamaJacks so glad you are able to do this walk again this year with your team. I'm the opposite..the earlier timeframe worked best for me. I do know however that next year I will work my travel around it. I definitely want to be at the walk in my home town area again!

 I will be attending the Guelph one. This is my 4 th walk . My very first one I had just had treatment and was in a wheelchair chair just because of energy levels. But the last two I walked and I plan to in this one to.  It's such a great way to meet other teal sisters. I have a really big supportive team and it really helps with this journey.  I think I have 40-50 family members and friends that show up. 

@mom2boys how amazing to be participating for your 4th year. 👏 I love that you have a huge team of supporters with you. That's incredible.
