Hi @brendalee ... it sounds like you have some good opportunity coming up to discuss this with your extended medical team. Hopefully they will be able to provide some insight. I know this group talks a lot about our bowels and poop. If you do a search using a few key words in the search bar at the top, you may find some past threads on this topic. So many of us have bowel issues. Sorting it all out is a journey within our overall journey. 😗💩
Not that my issues are the same as yours however, I'm two years post surgery and I have on and off again bowel issues. I was told during my routine colonoscopy last year that my sigmoid colon had narrowed, likely due to scar tissue formation from my surgery. It has led to a few bowel issues for me. I mentioned in a previous thread that my oncology team suggested I try to incorporate some elements of the "low fibre/low residue" diet. I eliminated raw veggies, and nuts as these were things that tend to really irritate my bowels. I now defer to cooked veggies and blended nuts e.g., peanut butter/nut butters that are smooth.
If you type "low fibre diet" into the search bar at the top of this page, you should come up with quite a few past threads on this topic. Our own @GloHo and @Strongwoman posted some patient resources, that provides overviews on this topic, including dietary information. I know you will do this however just as a reinforcement, make you that before you implement anything, your extended medical team is aligned as you need to ensure you are getting the nutrients you need.
I also know a few Teal Sisters kept a journal and/or kept track somehow of what they ate. The intent was to determine positively and/or negatively was might have impacted their bowels. Just a thought if that's of any help.
Please keep us posted. I hope you will get some answers from them.
