Yes and if there's a problem in the treatment room there's always a dr for the nurses to grab. It's amazing.

@mom2boys My Guelph Oncologist is Dr. Robinson. I love her and only see her when I go. Going monthly must give you peace of mind as you navigate through your treatment. Having the Oncologist so close and handy is wonderful. Plus the travel time. The staff is amazing there too. It does work like a well oiled machine there that I have found.

I also was a patient there. Well still am but when I had my first recurrence that I'm in now they asked if I wanted to do treatment in Guelph. I agreed it's so much closer Guelph just lets Hamilton know what's happening. The staff at Guelph are fantastic the oncologist the nurses right down to the reception. As you said quicker wait. Who is your Guelph oncologist? I have dr Evans as my main but see dr Robinson a lot. I love them both.
im still once every 3-4 weeks. Right now.

@mom2boys I was a patient there when I first started my journey. They still monitor my situation from what I understand even though I am not an active patient there. I currently see an Oncologist every 6 months in Guelph, Ont with routine bloodwork done at the same time. We don't do scans anymore as we feel they won't show anything different given my situation. So, we go month by month or day by day with my symptoms and monitor from there. I am on a low residue diet and fluctuate on that depending on how I am feeling on any given day. It sucks not being able to eat what I used to but the side effects from eating it are much worse and not worth the pain and suffering I go through if I don't watch what I eat. My abdomen tells me daily what I will or won't be doing or having based on my symptoms. Today is another "iffy" day in which I will watch what I eat because it is feeling "off" today. I will make everyone dinner tonight and hope that I can have some of it too once my tummy calms down. I can tell you that I would love to scarf down a nice big salad one day but know it is an impossibilty in my realm of the world. I have slowly increased my palate and can have some foods I was unable to before which is nice to be able to do. Who knew eating would become such a chore and decisions around eating so important for my day to day living.
So, to answer your question, I believe I am still a patient there just not an active one. My activity comes from Guelph as do the Oncologist and Palliative Doctor I currently work with. They are my main docs and who I follow for advice when I run into trouble. When I was with Juravinski, I found them very helpful and useful. Glad I don't have to do the drive anymore though or the waiting game that always took place when having an appt there. Now that I am every 6 months for an appt, I hardly feel like a patient anymore. Only when I run into trouble do I feel like one.
