  • 1.  Honouring a Teal Sister - GloHo

    Posted yesterday

    Fellow Teal Sisters,

It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the loss of one of our Teal Sisters - @GloHo (Gloria)

Gloria's son informed me that she passed away peacefully with family by her side. 💔🩵 Gloria was one of the strongest voices on OVdialogue and someone I referred to as "the Queen of the Clinical Trials". Gloria documented and shared everything that she could of her journey, which included many trials and variety of treatments. She always lent her experiences to others, responding to posts, providing counsel based on her personal experience, and quite often with a thread of laughter. She shared SO much of her journey, in the hopes of helping others battling ovarian cancer. I was always so impressed with her resolve and the research she did to understand her options. She was one of the strongest personal advocates I know and as I said to her son, I know she liked to challenge her oncologist which I found so amusing...I would have hated to have been on the receiving side when her determination was in full force. 😊

Gloria did not want any formal service or commemoration. Her ask was that we keep her in our thoughts and remember her in our own way. ❤️ I will ensure that any posts to this thread are shared back with her son. I want her family to know how special she was to this community.

I am very sad to learn of Gloria's passing. She contributed valuable information to our dialogue, bravely undertaking trial after trial and their ensuing side effects, and then explaining the process so we'd understand. I learned a lot from her.  She seemed to be eternally optimistic, inspiring me with her courage and resilience.

I'm so sorry to hear this-thank you for sharing.

GloHo has made such a lasting impact on this community. She was a strong advocate for herself, working to understand her options and engage fully in her care. She didn't keep information she had to herself, she willingly shared that knowledge so generously with others here on OVdialogue which has, and will continue, to support others. She was an integral part of the OVdialogue update as a beta tester, thoughtfully sharing feedback on what could be improved and what was working well. It was truly a pleasure to work with her.

Thinking of her family and all those who cared for her in the days ahead.

When i discovered OVdialogue Gloria was a regular voice sharing all she learned and her experiences with the treatments she endured as she fought to beat this cancer. Ever optimistic that one can find ways to fight onward, she gave so many of us hope.
I am very sad to hear she is gone from us. My deepest sympathy to her family. This family too has lost a sister.
