I was thinking the other day that so often as cancer patients, regardless of where we are in our journey, we can be very hard on ourselves. This can take many forms.
*We get frustrated this is happening to us.
*We get annoyed that we aren't healing as fast as we'd like.
*We feel down when we aren't able to do small things like go for a walk, when it was so easy pre-diagnosis.
The list can go on.
We are however strong woman who I think forget sometimes that we need to give ourselves "grace". "Giving yourself grace" means showing yourself kindness, compassion, and forgiveness especially when you are struggling. It involves letting go of perfection, accepting that you are human and avoiding harsh self-criticism or shame.
This practice allows you to rest, be gentle with your limitations, and move forward without punishing yourself for not meeting an unrealistic idea.
We have all been through so much. Let's be kind to ourselves. After all, we deserve it!! I'd love to hear how you "give yourself grace".
