@taylormade Welcome to the group. I am sorry you are feeling so retched these past few days. It must be awful feeling like that. I would be asking my Onc if they believe the symptoms are from a second time around or from the medication itself. The two can have very different answers to them. Stomach issues are tricky and you may have to look at something like a low residue diet to help you through that part of it. It is hard to not look back at what we were doing say a year ago versus now and not have feelings of resentment or built up emotions. All I can say is take it one day at a time and ask your Onc the questions you need to when you see them next. I know I had to stop a medication due to pain in the face and the Onc had said it was one of the worst cases he had seen as of yet for a reaction to the med. So I had to come off of it immediately and healing from that took weeks. Try looking up Low Residue Diet to help you with your stomach issues and perhaps that will help. It may help to soften some of the issues you are having and allow you to eat more or different as you heal. There are stages to the diet depending on the symptoms you are experiencing which will help determine what to eat at the time for yourself. I think it is best you discuss your symptoms with your Onc at your next visit so you can determine what your next steps will be. Stay on the drug, come off the drug, reduce the dosage. Something that will determine what will work best for you. Wishing you the best of luck at your nxt visit and that you get the answers you are looking for. Please reach out should you have anymore concerns and we will see if we can help you or help guide you along the way as to next steps. Perhaps you want to join our Teal Thursday chats too. I will be there this Thurs to start the conversation and it is a great way to check in with the ladies and let them know where you are at that week. Perhaps there is something we could help with. Looking forward to chatting with you again.

Subject: Face swelling with carboplatin taxlipaxel
I have recurrent or metastatic ovarian cancer after 8 years clear. The chemo of choice was the same as last time. I expected the same effects but sadly day 2 my face swelled Its called angioedema where your face goes red and puffs up. Can affect eyes and throat so i was worried. I'd read these side effects on the emend nausea pills insert that are required to be taken day off and 2 days following chemo now I see the same side effects are from paclitaxel. First rounds of chemo (8 years ago) I didn't have nearly the effects at all. This time is so painful and I have zero energy and crazy bowel issues. Stomach is very effected so you need to eat to take the meds. 8 yrs ago I was riding my horse or cutting lawn during this time. Anyone have experience with this second time around?Maybe it's also due to my age now 73. I had no symptoms from this mass in my psoas muscle. It was an incidental finding I've never felt so retched. I worry all 6 of these treatments will be the same.
Yvonne Taylor.
