Hi all,
I wanted to share some information I learned yesterday. I have a yeast infection. I'm using over the counter meds to address it however I learned that there is a commonly prescribed one day oral pill that is also available by prescription. I was curious so did a bit of research and saw that it was recommended with caution for anyone on Lynparza (Olaparib). I called the PMH Pharmacy (where my medication is prescribed out of), as I always check with them prior to taking any medication/vitamins etc. The pharmacist confirmed that there is indeed a reaction between the two medications. Diflucan interferes with how Lynparza is absorbed in the blood and raises the risks of severe side effects from the Lynparza.
The pharmacist said she would advise against taking it however, if it was necessary then I should contact my oncology team (which I would absolutely do before I took anything), as they would likely reduce the Lynparza dosage for a few days.
I thought I'd pass this along if it's of help to others. It's always something, right?! Better safe than sorry however.
