    Hello all,

Looks like I am going back to chemo in Jan with carbo and caelyx. I have heard about the redness, dryness etc that are possible on hands and feet. I want to try to get some cream or lotion prior to starting just in case. I have tried to search other threads but can't seem to find any suggestions of what worked to either prevent or treat this. I am aware of the mouth wash for possible mouth sores but wondering if anyone has suggestions for the prevention or treatment of the hand/feet issues. Also, those of you that had caelyx did you lose your hair? I am getting mixed opinions on that!

@GoldenDaisy are you talking about hand and foot?  If so, the doctor thought I had this with my chemo, she told me to put on voltaren twice a day and use lanolin ointment in between, the nurse suggested using "udderly smooth cream".  Of course before the voltaren I would talk to your doctor.  Udderly you can get at Walmart.  But any lanolin based ointment would probably work.

I was also told about udderly smooth cream by someone in my local support group that had been on Caelyx.  she would put it on at night as well and possibly wore gloves?.. she had no issues but she was very consistent with applying cream.
I think with hair, my oncologist told me that if I went on it..I would/might lose some of my hair or have hair thinning, but it isn't as severe as with naraparib.

@GoldenDaisy glad there were a few folks with suggestions on the redness, dryness for hands/feet. I had mouth sores when I started my Lynparza (it's a possible side effect) and received an oral rinse from the PMH pharmacy. Whatever it was, it did work to help manage them. I'm assuming what they will provide you will be something similar.

with respect to the mouth and getting thrush (everything coated in white) and possibly mouth sores - teva nystatin worked well.  It's a yellow liquid you slosh around in your mouth and then rinse.
