    Hi everyone:
I am currently listening to an online conference on biomarkers.  Unfortunately, I was an hour late as its Eastern time lol.  But I think it would be great for anyone who still wants to sign up and get in on it (if its still possible), because its all about trying to get national really indepth biomarker testing availability...so important for all of us.  So look upCCRANs Biomarkers Conference 2026

Brendalee, that sounds very good. I am interested in learning more about this topic. I think there might also be something on our website dealing with this subject. I need to go looking.

was watching it until now....I think im conference saturated.  I want to go out for a walk! They will be producing a paper from it later.  It's mostly on the value of comprehensive genomic profile (CGP) testing rather than gene by gene testing and how it is actually a cost benefit to governments because it can point person to best treatment..you do all tests at once which is also good vs. using more and more of tumor for each individual test. Can point you in direction of clinical trials or away from inappropriate treatment or appropriate treatment.  Many current barriers, and variation in access, also education of patients and even oncologists.  Push for all across Canada development, make it part of standard of care and standardize it.  (in France you automatically have a CGP before you see oncologist) and inUS medicare (all seniors eligible for) covers CGP. etc. etc.  gotta go get some air.

Interesting,I think there is valuable info in learning all we can about each of our dna/genetics for better more customizable outcomes.  I hope we can learn more about this and it becomes standard practice

@brendalee thank you for sharing this information. As an 'attendee', will you receive a heads up on the paper that's being published?

@LeslieA there is indeed information about BioMarkers on the OCC's website. There's a video posted a few months ago and three resource guides. I've included the weblinks below. For some reason they are not inserted as hyperlinks but if you copy/paste into your browser that should work. If not, let me know.

Hi everyone, here is the link to the session 'Understanding biomarkers: what to know and what to ask'. This Speaker Series Session was hosted in March of this year (2026).

Click here to go to this video in the OVdialogue Library.

Alongside this webinar, Ovarian Cancer Canada shared a reference tool called 'The power of biomarkers to personalize ovarian cancer care'. You can download a copy by heading to this link

    All the best, Marianne
