I would say never ever give up treatment. You have no idea what will work and how well. They put me on Avastin and Taxol 3 1/2 years ago and I'm still on it - cancer is stable to everyone's surprise. They thought I would have 6-12 months - I've had an extra 3.5 years so far! Please check out 'Chris Beat Cancer' online and Jane McClellands Book 'How To Starve Cancer'. Those sites and books are my 'do what I can to help my body survive this cancer and this chemo' sources for great ideas on supplements and other treatments that might help. Honestly, they have likely saved my life. I re-read all of Chris Wark's stuff this week as I wait for my Avastin to be added back in after a break for a bowel obstruction. I am taking supplements to help my body NOT allow the cancer to grow. I cross reference all supplements with possible drug interactions. I look at PubMed research for any studies showing if any of them work. I step outside the box when I figure I have nothing to lose. For example, when first told 6-12 months to live, I used CBD/THC suppositories and they brought my CA 125 down from 130's to 80 something. I have tried a whole bunch of stuff that isn't 'standard of care' which I refer to as 'substandard of care'. In Europe they are much more open to alternative therapies; here you have to say nothing to your oncologist (after doing your own research for safety and efficacy of course) or say something and because they don't know about it or aren't 'allowed' to advise patients on natural remedies they will likely say don't do it. Well, my attitude is, its my body and my fight and I'll do what the hell I want. Like I said, I research the hell out of anything I'm considering. My oncologist always tells me, "Your cancer isn't behaving normally and I don't know why this combo still works for you." And I think, "Well, aren't you curious as to what I am doing to make it this far?" But I just keep my mouth shut and carry on. Hope this gives you some hope. The most important part of my message is to do your own research before taking or doing anything 'outside the box'. Good luck!
