An important step forward for the public funding of Elahere

In August, over 9000 people across the country raised their voice, sending nearly 40,000 messages to provincial and territorial representatives. They shared a unified message: that Canadian women facing ovarian cancer deserve access to innovative treatments when they need them.

Today, the results of their collective action are tangible.

We are pleased to share that negotiations to make ELAHERE accessible to Canadians are set to restart, and that the voices of our community played an important role in achieving this milestone. These results are immensely encouraging and speak to the power of our collective action.

From here, the pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) negotiation team and drug manufacturer, AbbVie, will determine their next steps on the path to make this innovative treatment accessible to Canadians. We remain committed to advocating for timely access to treatments and keeping you informed on the results of this negotiation.

ELAHERE is the first major treatment advancement for Canadian women facing platinum-resistant ovarian cancer in a decade. Personalized therapies like this set the stage for a future where ovarian cancer is not treated with a one-size-fits-all approach, but one that reflects the unique biology and needs of patients.

The momentum this community has helped build comes at a critical moment. Women facing this disease cannot afford to lose time, and in just weeks, your action has created a wave of support stretching coast-to-coast.

Thank you for being a part of this nationwide call for action.
