The new OVdialogue experience is only days away! Here’s what the updated platform will offer you as a valued member of our peer-to-peer community:
• A personalized experience, just for you: your member homepage displays the content you engage with most, including a resource library where you can engage in discussions directly related to the content.
• Have conversations in real time: You can respond to notifications and personal messages from people in your community directly from your email inbox; plus it’s easier than ever to return to the platform.
• Stay up to date on the latest events: upcoming activities will be listed in an events calendar right here in the platform
During this time of transition, private messaging within the platform will be unavailable beginning January 22, and posting will be unavailable beginning January 27.
We look forward to seeing you in the refreshed platform!

Treatment Options and Princess Margaret Clinical Trials

I previously had two rounds of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel (6 cycles each) which were quite effective, but unfortunately the disease came back the first time after 6 months and the second time after only 3 months.

I am now undergoing the combination treatment of Caelyx and Avastin but am not sure this is proving to be effective and am scared about the uncertainty of my current situation.

Could anyone advise on possible next in line treatment options if Caelyx/Avastin doesn't work?

I am located in the GTA and understand clinical trials are offered at Princess Margaret. Does anyone have any recent experience there that they can share with me?

Thank you so much ..

  • hi @DeniseBR . Have you had an opportunity to express your concerns to your medical team? I’m hopeful they would listen and be able to help you understand what if anything, a clinical trial would mean if your specific situation.
I believe there are a number of Teal Sisters on this site who have, are or know a fair amount about clinical trials. If you haven’t already if you search this site using the words “clinical trials” it should pull up some conversation threads.

I’m sorry I’m not more helpful personally.

  • Thank you @Alwayslearning .. yes, I am having continuing discussion with my oncology team but wanted to be as informed as possible in those discussions. I am at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga and they don't seem to have any insight into what clinical trials are being conducted at Princess Margaret.

Thanks also for the advice about Teal Sisters, which has been very helpful.

    Much appreciated ..

  • Hi @DeniseBR I'm attaching a link to the Clinical Trials section in the OV Cancer Canada's home page. Perhaps there is some information in here that could help? I'm sorry your medical team aren't as up to date as perhaps they could be. I'm sure that's frustrating. One thing I've learned from the OV Dialogue forum is that we have to be strong advocates for ourselves. It's sad however it's true. I hope this helps. Also if any Teal Sisters can weigh in on information regarding Clinical Trials, please drop a note for DeniseBR.
