Hello everyone I am new here, lots of ovarian and breast cancer in my family, my Mom and her sister my aunt recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, I have had genetic testing done at a clinic in Toronto, negative for BRCA 1 and 2, but I know there are other mutations that can cause these cancers, and am willing to pay privately for a more thorough genetic panel. Does anyone here know of any private company that can do more thorough, and most up to date testing for ovarian and breast cancer? Don't mind paying

I dont know how to get tested privately but I would guess out of country, USA or Mexico.
In my experience, the BRCA genetic test is part of a panel of more than a dozen possible genetic factors. Maybe that is only done for patients with OC and not family. Did you see your actual report or did your Dr tell you the results? Maybe they only communicated the BRCA results because that’s what most people have heard about.
The other question you have to ask is if you got testing privately what would change about your medical treatment? Would you be followed more closely and how? (Yearly ultrasound, cancer marker etc) IMO, with your history you should be followed anyway. What preventative measures would be offered? Can you have your fallopian tubes removed when it fits your family planning?

I contacted the genetic clinic in toronto where I am a patient and will be getting more genetic testing done privately through them with a company called Invitae based in the US. I appreciate your encouragement to advocate for myself

hi @Grace have you done genetic testing? I was reading about Clearity in the US but I didn’t know I could have it done in Canada. I would appreciate any information you might have. Thank you
