Community Connection: Ovarian Cancer Canada is looking for volunteers! Could you help?

OVdialogue – consider joining our team in the role of Community Champion. Over a few hours each week, you would be part of a team that helps connect people, support conversations and are thought leaders for OVdialogue. This is your opportunity to give back to those who have/continue to support you through the tough times, share your unique experiences, and help celebrate successes. For more details of what this entails, please reach out to @Mfallis (mfallis@ovariancanada.org).
Ovarian Cancer Canada is thrilled to share that we have some exciting updates on the way for OVdialogue. These enhancements are designed to strengthen our community and make your experience even better.

Stay tuned for more details, and feel free to share your thoughts below. Let’s make this community even stronger!

Introduction

I’m new to this site. Diagnosed in October . Ovarian cancer , inherited genetically which has proven to be helpful . Have had 3 rounds of chemo. Then surgery which went well. Just completed last three rounds of chemo. Will be cleaning next step in this journey by Middle of May. Thank you for letting me join this group . I have also been told the chemo worked so well for me because of gene I carry. I started with advanced stage 4 cancer!

Hello @Park and welcome to the group. Sounds like you have had a bit of journey and perhaps with minimal side effects. If I am reading your post correctly, you are now done your first round of chemo and all the sessions? Sounds very promising that the chemo has worked well for you. Do you know what will happen next? Wait and see, monitor? More treatment either IV chemo or oral? Let us know.

As an aside, most ladies on the site are using the Teal Thursday chat for some general chit chat. Feel free to drop a line there anytime.

If you would like to join this week's Teal Thursday, just log into OV Dialogue and follow along the conversation between 1-2pm ET. We would be happy to meet and chat with you.

Let us know if there is anything you would like to ask or chat about. All of us are very welcoming and will do what we can to answer questions you may have.

    Take care💕

  • thank you for welcoming me. I do think now that I put introduction in wrong spot sorry! Visit Dr next week and I believe I will be starting g oral chemo for two years! That’s kind of daunting.

Oh NO, @Park you didn't post in the wrong area at all. You are new and used the Introductions which is great.

I was letting you know that the trend the group seems to be doing is using the Teal Thursday chat as a general chat spot. All good. Join in and post where you feel fit. If there is a special topic, then post under that, all good.

Keep us posted on your upcoming Dr, appt. Yes, the thought of being on an oral med for a long period of time can be daunting. I don't think about mine anymore. It has minimal side effects and something I just do now. All good. I hope that is the case for you as well. Once you find out the name of it, come search for some threads on it here as I am positive other ladies here will have tried it already. That way you will know some things to expect and where to connect if you have any questions or issues.

Anyhow, I must run and get my Mom's present ready to mail off. Hope to see you tomorrow on the chat online. 🤗

  • thank you for the info. I am hoping to join in tomorrow for teal Thursday . To see what it’s all about sounds very informative!
