Topotecan dosing
Has anyone had Topotecan weekly ( week 1, 2 & 4, week 3 off) ? The dosing here in BC is 5 days a week and 2 weeks off. The side effects are much more manageable on the weekly dosing according to more updated studies since 1996 when Topotecan was first used. Many cancer centres across the US use the weekly dosing.

Hello @hope2022 Although I do not have this type of cancer, I went digging when you mentioned the last study dates as I wanted to see if there was anything newer of relevance. I have found an article that is a trusted source and discusses the use of Topotecan with Cyclophosphamide Combo more commonly known in the medical world as CyTO Have you heard of this before or read anything? Here is the link to the article I found and hope it is of some use to you: Metronomic Chemotherapy Based on Topotecan or Topotecan and Cyclophosphamide Combination (CyTo) in Advanced, Pretreated Ovarian Cancer - PMC (nih.gov)
Here is another one I found on the dosing you are suggesting and inquiring about....did you find this article as well?
Topotecan Weekly Versus Conventional 5-Day Schedule in Patients With Platinum-Resistant Ovarian Cancer: A Randomized Multicenter Phase II Trial of the North-Eastern German Society of Gynecological Oncology Ovarian Cancer Study Group | Journal of Clinical Oncology (ascopubs.org)
Hope this helps and let me know if I can assist in any way. I am happy to help. Let us know any findings you come upon and what you decide to do.
Take care

@Strongwoman
Yes thank you, I have heard of the CyTO combination. I didn't have that on my list last week when I had my appt.
I will ask about it at my next appt. My oncologist is looking into the weekly Topotecan as opposed to daily to see if it may be an option for me. The weekly regimen is not the protocol for this drug at BCCA, but she said she was open to it depending on the supporting evidence.
Thank you for the articles. I looked at several last week, but can't remember exactly which ones. This old memory of mine is not as good as it was once!
I'm sorry the BOUQUET trial didn't work out, but great news about different options for you from PMH.

@hope2022 Your welcome and hopefully you will find the links useful. Let us know how it goes and what treatment regime you end up going with.
I am good with the news about the trial, I think mainly because the rest of the visit was positive and supportive of further investigation and action. I am grateful that the Med Onc at PMH was as kind and compassionate as he was for sure. It has definitely made me much more hope-full!0
