WORLD OVARIAN CANCER DAY

World Ovarian Cancer Day is quickly approaching. It’s a global day of recognition - a day to bring our voices to the forefront and demand attention. In the current Seeds of Hope, OCC CEO Tania Vrionis details the power of community, forward momentum, and how together we can reach even more people affected by ovarian cancer, others at high risk for this disease, and concerned citizens who know everyone deserves to live their best lives. Many local communities highlight this day.....yours may be one.

NEW! Ovarian Cancer Canada partners with Wellspring Cancer Support
Ovarian Cancer Canada, in partnership with Wellspring Cancer Support, provides various peer support programs to support those diagnosed and living with ovarian cancer. Through this partnership three programs have been created to support you, please see below. For questions and more information about programs in partnership with Wellspring Cancer Support, please contact Marianne Fallis, Programs Associate, Ovarian Cancer Canada at [email protected].
1. Ovarian Cancer Peer Support Program
Ovarian Cancer Peer Support program allows those diagnosed with ovarian cancer to connect with others who understand what they are going through. This program can help those newly diagnosed or those who have been living with the disease. Peer Support is available in both French and English. You will have the opportunity to meet privately with a specially trained Ovarian Cancer Peer Support Volunteer who has also experienced ovarian cancer and knows what you are going through. You can meet by telephone or via video conferencing. Ovarian Cancer Peer Support will be available after November 7, 2022. 2. Ovarian Cancer Support Group
Ovarian Cancer Support Group is a professionally led program that meets weekly for six weeks. Participants will explore relevant themes, including coping with change and will have an opportunity to share within and build a community of support. You must register for this program and commit to the six weeks. Spots are limited per group, however, as additional groups and spots become available, you will be notified. 3. Ovarian Cancer Circle
Ovarian Cancer Circle is a professionally led monthly virtual support group. This is an ‘open’ group, meaning participants are welcome to join as they are able. Under the leadership of a healthcare professional, this group provides a community of support to discuss relevant issues such as relationships, sexuality, side effects, anxiety, fertility, and other challenges of living with ovarian cancer. I wanted to share a few upcoming events for your consideration in the coming weeks:
Tonight, January 31st at 6:30pm Eastern, join us for Speaker Series - Writing through cancer: How writing can be healing. Dr. Sharon Bray, author, educator and someone who knows what it's like to be diagnosed with cancer, to take a brief look at the benefits and method of healing writing. You will participate in sample writing exercises. Make sure to have a device you can type on or a pen and paper handy.
